Introducing Three Certifications from The Scrum Academy that Will Boost Your Career

Professionals with experience using Scrum, and other Agile practices, continue to be some of the most sought after job applicants by employers.

According to a recent industry report, more than two-thirds of tech teams use Scrum to power their product development work.  As a job seeker, without the ability to prove your knowledge of Scrum you’ll be at a disadvantage in an industry where more and more people are using Scrum daily.

What is Scrum?

Scrum is a light-weight framework for delivering valuable products to customers by empowering cross-functional, self-organizing teams.  It is uniquely balanced to enable business leaders to make periodic adjustments rooted in observation, feedback and empirical data.

Scrum provides the minimum framework organizations need to transform their work environments, restore a focus on the customer and re-energize their employees.  The wide variation of skills, roles and experience needed for a cross-functional Scrum Team to be effective gives rise to the opportunity for everyone in the organization to contribute to the success of the business.

Who Does What in Scrum?

There are three accountabilities, or roles, in Scrum: Developer, Product Owner and Scrum Master. The Scrum Alliance has created continuing education paths for each of these roles. Our president and Certified Scrum Trainer®, Carlton Nettleton, has been instrumental in shaping these paths.

Certified Scrum Product Owner®

Product Owners are responsible for creating and executing on their vision for digital products and services.  In this course, we show you how to successfully achieve this goal while collaborating with a Scrum Team, managing a Product Backlog and leading the customer discovery process.  By the end of this course you will have discovered new techniques to engage, support and inspire customers, users and stakeholders as you develop new and innovative digital products and services.

Certified Scrum Master®

Scrum Masters have two responsibilities: improve the flow of value towards the customer and ensure the correct use of Scrum.  In this course, we take a deep dive into the Scrum framework and the Spirit of Scrum to show how Scrum Masters lead through influence rather than positional authority.  By the end of this course, you will know how to use Scrum to create a team that puts people first and supports continuous improvement at the organizational level.

Certified Scrum Developer®

In this hands-on course (with real code!), Developers will learn the core Scrum and Agile concepts required to fully participate in a Scrum Team.  More importantly, we will share advanced technical best practices that will make it easier for you to write, maintain and test your code in an Agile environment.   By the end of this course, you will have begun to put into practice the good habits necessary to write clean code, work as a team and communicate effectively with code.
