{"id":804,"date":"2009-12-29T10:20:07","date_gmt":"2009-12-29T18:20:07","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/lookforwardconsulting.com\/?p=804"},"modified":"2025-02-25T11:52:02","modified_gmt":"2025-02-25T11:52:02","slug":"xpsd-call-for-speakers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/thescrumacademy.com\/es\/2009\/12\/29\/xpsd-call-for-speakers\/","title":{"rendered":"XPSD Call for Speakers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A group close to my heart,\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.xpsd.org\">Extreme Programming San Diego<\/a> (XPSD), is looking for speakers to talk about their experiences applying Agile software development practices. \u00a0XPSD meets on the 1st Thursday of every month at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.thelinkery.com\/\">The Linkery<\/a> in North Park from 6 PM to 8 PM to network, share ideas and discuss trends in the Agile software development community.<\/p>\n<p>XPSD is an <strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>excellent<\/em><\/span><\/strong>, knowledgeable community resource on the topic of Agile software development, Scrum and Extreme Programming in San Diego County. \u00a0I am consistently impressed with the experience and passion in our group. \u00a0I am very proud of how much XPSD has grown over the years and I am glad we have created a friendly space for great dialogue on Agile in San Diego. \u00a0We are\u00a0seeking speakers in these three areas:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Experience reports on applying XP, Scrum or Agile techniques in your\u00a0organization.<\/li>\n<li>Explanations on the business and management side of using Scrum on projects or the enterprise.<\/li>\n<li>Technical presentations on useful tools or the technical practices of XP or Agile software\u00a0development (pair programming, iterative design, refactoring, TDD, testing, etc.) that enable agility.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>We provide a variety of ways for our speakers to contribute (see below), so if you just want to share some\u00a0ideas on how something might work or to talk about what your\u00a0team did, please get in touch with our organizers &#8211; Carlton Nettleton (carlton@thescrumacademy.com) or June Clarke (joonspoon@yahoo.com) &#8211; for more details.<\/p>\n<p>These are the formats we provide for our speakers:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Roundtable:<\/strong> a casual discussion where we can examine one or two ideas from\u00a0a variety of perspectives for about an 60 to 90 minutes. The roundtable &#8220;host&#8221; provides a 10\u00a0to 15 minute overview of the topic(s) in order to frame the conversation and then\u00a0starts the discussion with a provocative question. \u00a0This is a great format to get a number of expert opinions on a difficult problem you&#8217;ve been facing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Lecture:<\/strong> in-depth discussion of one or two themes or ideas and is\u00a0expected to be about 60 minutes, but no longer than 75 minutes. Great format for an experience report or sharing some results with a wider audience. \u00a0XPSD is an inquisitive group, so expect questions during your talk.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Short topic: <\/strong>intended to explain a technical topic or highlight\u00a0a new idea. \u00a0This new, short format (15 to 30 minutes) is provided by XPSD to help\u00a0new speakers, ideas, perspectives and experiences get in front of the members.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Workshop:<\/strong> illustrate a concept or technical skill primarily through\u00a0audience participation and ideally should not exceed 90 minutes.
