The last of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agilemanifesto.org\/principles.html\">12 Principles<\/a>\u00a0behind the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/agilemanifesto.org\/\">Agile Manifesto<\/a>, speaks specifically to improvement.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>At regular intervals, the team reflects on how to become more effective, then tunes and adjusts its behavior accordingly.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>This is an application of the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lean_manufacturing\">Lean<\/a>\u00a0concepts of continuous improvement (<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kaizen\">kaizen<\/a><\/em>) and relentlessly eliminating\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muda_(Japanese_term)\">muda<\/a><\/em>,\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Mura_(Japanese_term)\">mura<\/a><\/em>\u00a0and\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muri_(Japanese_term)\">muri<\/a><\/em>\u00a0on the short time scales of Agile.\u00a0 Each iteration, we ask the people participating in the process on how to make things better and then implement the suggestions.\u00a0 Management (and other outsiders) need to avoid the temptation of telling the teams how to fix things and just\u00a0<em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Genchi_Genbutsu\">genchi genbutsu<\/a><\/em>.\u00a0 The people doing the work know what needs to be changed, all we need to do is listen to what they have to say.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u2026it would be funny (Lost the Dilbert strip during the move, sorry :( &#8211; 01\/31\/2009 CEN).
